The City

Beijing, as the capital of China, is the nation's political and cultural center and is unique in its history, tradition and character. Some 3000 years ago, a small village was born at the southwest of the modern Beijing. From the 12th Century to 1911, it was the capital city for the Jin, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties. Beijing is ever reshaping throughout centuries a thoroughly modern metropolis, covering an area of 16,800 square kilometers and encompassing a population of 22 million. You will find the city an unforgettable destination, with its ancient Great Wall, the Forbidden City and numerous palaces and temples as a reminder of dynasties lost in the mists of time. Moreover, the city has refreshed its character by a growing number of parks, recreational centers, folk shows during holiday celebrations, splendid theaters, and a grand city outlook.


Main Conference Venue

Beijing Conference Center(BCC) is about 25km away from the airport, you can get there either by taxi or by subway.



There are 3 routes to BCC by taxi as illustrated below, it will take about half an hour to one hour, depending on the road traffic.

The detailed map will help the local taxi drivers to quickly find the location.





Transportation in Beijing is convenient, with buses, taxis, light rail, subway, etc.

Bus: The bus ride in Beijing costs about 1-3 RMB depending on distance. Most city buses run from 5:30 - 22:00.

Taxi: Taxis are everywhere in the city and is the most convenient way to get around. Taxis charge 2.3 RMB per kilometer for the first 15 km, and then 3.45 RMB for every additional kilometer. fuel fee is an extra. It costs around US$18 to ride by taxi from the airport to the conference venue.

Subway: Except for Airport Line, the subway fare is from 3 to 8 RMB, depending on distance. You would find the cost you need to pay at the stations. 



Beijing has a continental monsoon climate commonly found in the temperate zone. In winter, cold, dry winds blow out of Siberia and Mongolia in the northwest; in summer, warm, moist air currents from the southeast take over. In October, it’s normally quite sunny but rain is also expected, the average temperature is around 15 degree Celsiu with large temperature difference between day and night.


Insurance and Liability

The Organizing Committee accepts NO responsibility for accidents, illness, loss of life or loss of property incurred by participants or partners while in transit to and from the training course or during the training course and their stay in China. All foreign scientists are required to have valid Health Insurance to cover yourself against accident or illness during your stay in China.


Physical Examination

Please take a Physical Examination in your country before coming to China and carry your Physical Examination Result with you during your stay here together with your passport.


Medical Services

Medical services are of a high standard and most international prescription drugs are readily available through retail pharmacies. It is suggested that you bring personal medical insurance for the duration of the trip.



In China, only Chinese Yuan (CNY, another saying Renminbi, RMB) is used. Please exchange some Chinese Yuan before your coming. Currency exchange can be made at banks or exchange agencies at airports, hotels and large shopping centers. At present, the exchange rate is about CNY 6.10 for 1 US Dollar. Notes come in 100, 50, 20, 10, 5, and 1 Yuan denominations. Coins come in 10c, 50c denominations. We advise you to keep your receipt in case you wish to change RMB back to foreign currency.

Major international credit cards such as Visa, Master, American Express, Diners Club, JCB are accepted in many department stores and hotels. However, it might be difficult to draw cash by using credits cards.


Time Zone

China Standard Time (Beijing Standard Time) is eight (8) hours ahead of UTC/GMT, which means Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) + 8 hr (=MET).


Power Supply

The standard voltage in China is 220 volts, 50Hz. The below plugs are usually used. If your appliances plug has a different shape, you may need a plug adapter.
